About

"Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." Jeremiah 6:16

This blog grows out of my own searching and pondering. When I entered the University of Utah at age 18 I took philosophy 101 and it forced me to think about God daily. The professor didn't care so much what our conclusion was as much as challenging to think through the issues. So everyday I had to listen to the opposing points of view from the great historical philosophers. Also at that time I would be sitting around on LSD listening to my hippy music. The powerful influences were Eric Clapton in Blind Faith singing "I have finally found a way to live, in the presence of the Lord" or Jethro Tull "He's not the kind you have to wind up on Sunday" or Its a Beatiful day singing "White Bird must fly, or he will die". Finally one night listening to the Moody Blues album In Search of the Lost Cord I realized they were not singing about a musical chord but an umbilical cord which represented our human need to get reconnected to the source of life. All of this pushed me towards a realization that if there is a creator then it would be best to live life in harmony with it. This is very rational but it only brought me up to the door. To walk through the door took an open heart and a step of faith, which is simply a response to God reaching out to me, in Christ. That was December 1971.

Thanks for taking time to read this. Hopefully it is just the beginning.
